This article will guide you how to convert NotifySync to UMail Blackberry Sync step by step which is clear to follow and easy to run and will let you enjoy a more colorful life of  blackberry.

Step 1:  Confirm Your Phone’s Data Plan

You must be subscribed to a BlackBerry Enterprise data plan, not a personal data plan.  Please check the following list of providers and make sure you are subscribed to the correct plan:

T-Mobile - BlackBerry Unlimited with Enterprise E-mail
Sprint - Unlimited Email and Web
AT&T - BlackBerry Enterprise (do not sign up for BlackBerry Personal)
Verizon - BES (do not sign up for the the personal plan)

Step 2:  Remove NotifySync

If you have NotifySync application currently installed on your Blackberry, this will need to be removed.

On the handset, do the following:

  • Go to the Notify Blackberry Installer. The currently installed components are shown
  • Select each component one by one, by using the space button
  • Press the Blackberry Menu button
  • Select Uninstall
  • You may be prompted with a confirmation message; select accept/yes
  • When removal has been completed, restart your phone by removing the battery or pressing Alt

Remove the Notify Blackberry Installer as follows:

  1. From the main Blackberry menu, go to Settings, then Options
  2. Go to Advanced, then Applications
  3. Find Notify Blackberry Installer in the list and highlight it
  4. Press the Blackberry Menu button
  5. Select Delete
  6. If prompted with "Delete Notify Blackberry Installer" select Delete again
  7. If prompted with "Deletion will occur when handheld is restart.  Restart now?" select Yes

Step 3:  Wipe Your Blackberry

To prevent problems, the device must be wiped.  This will remove everything off the phone and allow a clean start.  Be sure that any data you have on the phone has been backed up before proceeding with the wipe.

To wipe your device (this step takes about 20 minutes), follow the steps below:

  • From the main screen, select Settings
  • Select Security Options
  • Select General Settings
  • Press the Menu key and select Wipe Handheld
  • You will be prompted to enter the word blackberry to confirm

Step 4:  Activate Your Phone

A member of UMail team should have enabled your account for the UMail Blackberry Sync and given you a password.

With that information, follow the steps below to activate your phone:

  • From the main screen, select Settings
  • Select Advanced Options, then Enterprise Activation
  • In the Email option, enter your email address (unless otherwise instructed)
  • In the password field enter the password the UMail Team member has provided you

Note:  The password expires after 48 hours

  • Activation Server Address should be left blank
  • Press the Menu key and select Activate

Recommended setting change

In order to delete items on device and mailbox, you have to change the following option.

Select Messages icon, press the Menu key, select Options > Email Reconciliation > Change Delete OnMailbox & Handheld.
